After a long trip we settled into our accomodations for the night. Getting a good night sleep before I attend any class or training is important to me. With an early start, we loaded our gear and headed for the class. After registering and settling in we chatted with some of the resident members of the Stillwater Firearms Association.
Having been through a lot of training and classes, I was fully prepared to endure a long lecture. Much to my pleasure and surprise the class was not only fun but very thorough and informative. The main instructor also happens to be the county district attorney, go figure.
Attention to Detail & Safety
Only after completing the class, passing our written test, and going through a safety briefing did we depart for the range to complete the shooting section. Arriving at the range it's quite clear that Stillwater runs a top notch facility and takes shooter safety very seriously. I was extremely impressed by the organization and attention to detail everyone in the operation has.
In setting up our trip I spoke several times with Elynda Long, the president of the Stillwater Firearms Association. It's was very clear that Elynda's enthusiasm for shooting and providing a safe atmosphere for their members and guests is transmitted by all their volunteer staff. After completing our shooting with various weapons we completed our paperwork and packed up.
After leaving the we found a nice restaurant and shared a meal with Elynda, her husband and the vice president of the Stillwater Firearms Association, Jess DuShane. I have taken classes and trained in many places, but the friendship, training and hospitality we received at the Stillwater Firearms Association will not be forgotten.
